Contains graphic literary language, and descriptions of sex and food. Not for the faint of heart! SM
I was recently talking to a friend about the movie 9 1/2 Weeks. For those of you who have never seen this movie, do yourself a favor and rent it! Long before there was Christian Grey and Anastasia, there was Elizabeth McGraw played by the beautiful Kim Bassinger, and John Gray, yep you read that right, played by the sexy Mickey Rourke (pre-Botox). John Gray is the powerful and perverse, Wall Street Broker with a dark side that would make Christian Grey blush. He and Bassinger’s character, meet in a grocery store and continue to meet there until the sexual tension is so great they need to take things to the next level. Now while the masturbation scene is curiously hot, with Rourke’s character “demanding” that Elizabeth pleasure herself while at work.. the kitchen scene with the two of them feeding each other everything from maraschino cherries to jalapenos, are two great pleasures (food and sex) in lovely unison. You thought the Chef in me was referencing the cherries and jalapenos, right?
There is in my opinion, a deep connection between sex and food. Stay with me, I will convince you, unless, you have never had either, in which case this is really for you!! Lest anyone think that was not humor.
Good sex is an erotic orchestration of all of the senses, touch, taste, sight, smell. The same can be said for food. As a chef your main objective is to not only please the palate, but all of the senses really, food porn if you will. Food must be captivating, it has to look good on the plate, the aroma has to be appealing, obviously you want food to have an allure that invites you to want to savor and swallow the luscious goodness before you. Much like savoring your lover. I know some of you are blushing, but if I haven’t turned you off to food or sex yet, there is a point I am making in all of this.
Food is sustenance yes, but food is meant to be enjoyed, savored, and revered. Well at least my food is! Seriously though, food is communal, it’s primal, it’s poetic, it’s beauty. We can equate food with emotions, good and bad, family, and celebratory moments. The smell of certain foods can take us back in our minds to happy times, sad times, or even evoke the memory of being a child and coming home from school to a batch of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. Food and sex are both known as “guilty pleasures” but that is a misnomer, nothing to feel guilty about with either one in my opinion. Listen, we are on this earth, inhabiting this body for such a short period of time, why shouldn’t we be open to enjoying all that is before us? There is nothing I find sexier than being with the one you love, listening to the sultry sounds of Barry White, think (Can’t Get Enough Of Your Love), savoring a bottle of wine, feeding each other a sexy bite or two of a naughty dessert, and sharing a moment of unadulterated alone time. This my friends is the stuff that CrazySexySavor was founded on! Stay satisfied… stay sexy my friends.
Sinfully,
Susan xoxo
