Cinnamon Applesauce

I have been making applesauce since my kidlets were babies.  I loved making their baby food as I could easily use the freshest ingredients, without additives.  Now that they are grown babies, they still love Mommy’s applesauce.  Tonight I am making pork chops and it would be a shame not to have applesauce for them to dip their pork chops in!

I know this because, last time I served them pork chops without applesauce I had to listen to them sigh and moan about how they can’t rightfully eat their pork chops without my applesauce.  Determined not to make that mistake again, I give you my easy recipe for a quick and delicious applesauce.  Every time I make this I can’t help but think about the Brady Bunch episode, Pork chops and applesauce, when I say that my kids have no clue what the hell I’m talking about, but my fireman always chuckles because he remembers!

I hope you give this a try, it is so tasty.  You can vary this too, I often add fresh raspberries to change it up, I also use crab apples from our property in Upstate NY and it is so delish!

Sinfully,

Susan xoxo

Directions

  1. In a large pot over medium heat, add all ingredients, mix to combine.  Cook over medium heat, for 10-15 minutes or until apples are soft and you can mash easy with a potato masher.  You can use a food processor for a pureed smooth texture for babies, or if you prefer a less rustic chunky sauce.
  2. Let cool and place in a mason jar or serving bowl.  Can be served warm if you prefer or serve chilled.
